Description

The Antibacterial VICRYL™ Plus Coated Suture, Undyed Braided, Size 4-0, 18", with P-3 Reverse Cutting Needle, is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of polyglactin 910 and coated with triclosan, an antibacterial agent. It is specifically engineered for soft tissue approximation and ligation, providing both mechanical support and antimicrobial protection to reduce the risk of surgical site infections.

The P-3 needle is a precision reverse cutting needle with a 3/8 circle curvature, designed to penetrate dense tissues such as skin with minimal trauma. Its cutting edge on the outer curve ensures strong penetration and controlled placement, making it well-suited for dermatologic, plastic, and other soft tissue procedures requiring delicate closure.

VICRYL™ Plus sutures provide reliable strength during the critical wound healing phase. Approximately 75% of their tensile strength is retained at two weeks, with absorption completed between 56 and 70 days via hydrolysis. The addition of triclosan has been shown in vitro to create a zone of inhibition against major pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, MRSA, and MRSE.
